DECK STAINING
So, for the past two years we have had very good experience with a Sherwin Williams stain called Cedar Tone Natural. Last year we almost exclusively used just this stain for a few reasons:
The stain is transparent so it's not a solid - this means it seeps/soaks into the wood. Most people tend to use a solid or semi-transparent stain and the problem with that is that it only sticks to the surface of the wood and tends to peal or wear off within a year or two.
The cedar tone natural gives off a 'new wood look' it makes the wood look as if you had just bought it from Home Depot. The first day or two it looks like an orange color but after it fully cures/dry's it has a nice cedar look. This is what most of our clients hope to achieve and unfortunately like your experience the stains that are most prevalent in the majority of hardware stores is brown or a darker/tone. When it wears off it looks unappealing because it exposes the wood underneath and simply looks like you painted your deck as opposed to stained. Some manufactures claim their paint is for outdoor use (but only lasts one year since Canadian winters are harsh).
The transparent stain we use will also wear off but typically it lasts a lot longer and when it does wear off it still looks like natural wood. It doesn't look like its pealing it simple fades in color. This makes it a lot easier to work with if you need a new coat and sanding is unnecessary.
Our team hopes Sherwin Williams continues this product line way into the future because it's the most requested color from our experience.

PRESSURE WASHING
Pressure washing wood is the process of using high-pressure water to remove dirt, grime, and other buildup from the surface of wood materials. This process is highly effective in restoring the natural beauty and appearance of wood and is often used on decks, fences, siding, and other wooden structures.
Before pressure washing, it is important to prepare the area by removing any furniture, decorations, or other items that could be damaged by the high-pressure water. It is also important to cover any plants or landscaping near the wood with plastic sheeting to protect them from the water spray.
When pressure washing wood, it is important to use a machine with the correct PSI (pounds per square inch) for the type of wood being cleaned. For delicate surfaces, a low PSI should be used, while for tough, stubborn dirt and grime, a higher PSI may be required. The distance from which the water is sprayed and the angle of the spray should also be carefully controlled to prevent damage to the wood surface.
It is also important to use a cleaning solution specifically designed for wood, as some harsh chemicals can cause damage to the surface. The solution is typically applied to the wood prior to pressure washing, and the pressure washer is then used to remove the dirt, grime, and other buildup.
After pressure washing, it is important to rinse the wood thoroughly to remove any residual cleaning solution and to allow the wood to dry completely before staining, sealing, or painting. Proper maintenance, such as regular cleaning and sealing, can help extend the life of wood and protect it from future damage.
In conclusion, pressure washing wood is an effective and efficient method of cleaning and restoring the beauty of wood surfaces. However, it is important to follow proper procedures and use the right equipment and cleaning solutions to avoid damaging the wood and to ensure a safe and successful outcome.

RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL PAINTING
The general process of a wood painting and staining company involves several important steps to ensure a high-quality and long-lasting finish. The process typically includes the following steps:
Preparation: The first step is to properly prepare the wood surface for painting or staining. This may involve cleaning and sanding the surface to remove dirt, grime, and other debris, as well as repairing any cracks or damages to the wood.
Priming: If required, a primer is applied to the wood surface to create a uniform base for the paint or stain. Primers can also help to seal the wood, preventing moisture from penetrating and causing damage.
Painting/Staining: Once the surface is properly prepared, the painting or staining process can begin. The paint or stain is carefully applied to the surface, either by brush, roller, or sprayer, in a smooth and even layer.
Finishing: After the paint or stain has dried, a final coat of sealant or protective finish is applied to help protect the wood from weather, moisture, and other environmental factors.
Clean up: After the final coat has dried, the painting and staining company will clean up the work area and remove any debris.
This general process is followed by most wood painting and staining companies to provide a high-quality and long-lasting finish for their clients. Companies may also offer additional services such as pressure washing, deck restoration, and wood repair, to help maintain the beauty and functionality of their clients' wood surfaces.
